The revised Porsche Cayenne SUV is exactly that, on the outside some of the body panels have been restyled, sharper LED inspired headlights, front and rear bumpers and so on.
However Porsche wants to help save the world and for the first time the Cayenne will be offered with a plug-in hybrid model. The Cayenne S E-Hybrid will emit just 79g/km and have a claimed economy range of 83mpg.
The Cayenne will use the same hybrid technology found in the Panamera S E-Hybrid which means a 3.0 litre V6 Supercharged gasoline engine which emits 333bhp, this is combined with powerful 95bhp electric motors giving a total system torque of 590NM.
The Cayenne hybrid can manage almost 22 miles on electric power alone and muster 77mph, the zero too 62 mph dash is completed in 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 151 mph.
The Cayenne also benefits from an uprated 3.6 litre V6 Twin Turbo petrol engine, which is more efficient than the V8 it replaces by just 2mpg, the three-litre V6 engine in the Cayenne Diesel produces 262 hp and offers a torque range of 580 Nm, from 1,750 to 2,500 rpm, the car can accelerate from zero to 62 mph in 7.3 seconds and has a top speed is 137 mph. It remains unchanged from an engineering perspective.
The 4.2-litre V8 engine of the Cayenne S Diesel produces 385 hp and produces a megadeath of 850NM of torque from 2,000 to 2,750 rpm. The 62 mph dash is undertaken in 5.4 seconds with a top speed is 156 mph.
The revised Porsche Cayenne is on sale in the UK right now, its un-flatteringly expensive, and that’s not including the optional extra’s.
