What Car?, the UK’s equivalent of America’s Consumer Reports, claims that you can save as much as 31% on a new BMW 7 Series according to research carried out by a team of mystery shoppers. What Car? claimed that you could potentially save up to 31% that’s £18k off a new 7 Series Beemer if you are prepared to have it out with the showroom dealer, the reason is that its about to be replaced so dealers are trying to shift as much old stock as quickly as possible. The BMW discounts included a £10,719 saving off a BMW 640d SE, which is available for £52,411 against a list price of £63,130, and a £2056 saving on a BMW 320d Efficient Dynamics, which can be bought for £26,719 despite a list price of £28,775. The biggest average discounts across a car maker’s range are available on Volvos (14.7%), Renaults (13.6%) and BMWs (13.2%). Across all sectors and manufacturers, the average dealer discount stood at a 12-month high of 10.3%. The luxury car segment is seeing a lot of discounts where average savings can top around 17% off the showroom ticker price.
