Ken Block’s 1965 Ford Mustang Is An 845bhp Thermo Nuclear Warhead
Auto News
Take a 1965 Ford Mustang, 845bhp, AWD, Ken Block and you have the makings the official Gymkhana 7 video. So what is Gymkhana? its a series of videos featuring Ken Block a professional Rally driver with the Hoonigan Racing team, formerly known as Monster World Rally. Seriously “Gymkhana” “Hoonigan”?? where have we been all these years. Block is the key driver behind a serious of outlandish mega YouTube hits where he shows off his incredible rally skills to perfection in his Gymkhana video series. Gymkhana 7 is upon us and this time Block gets to put more meat into his horsepower sandwich in a one-off special build, a super-tuned V8, 845bhp AWD rocketship in the form of a highly modified 1965 Ford Mustang muscle car. It took two years to build the Ford Hoonigan RTR in a joint collaboration between RTR and ASD Motorsports. The car’s styling is said to be influenced by DTM and WRC cars but to us it looks like it belongs in the world of Mad Max, Beyond The Thunderdome. Block’s new thermo nuclear war head was revealed at SEMA, “This is a project that I’ve been working on for two years, so to see it fully come to fruition and be able to drive it for Gymkhana SEVEN was absolutely amazing,” said Ken Block. The engine has been beaten to death and re-tuned from the dead thanks to a 6.7-litre Roush Yates V8 and a specially designed Sadev AWD system, ensuring a degree of sanity remains to cope with all that power. The Ford Hoonicorn RTR was spied a few weeks ago undergoing preliminary photography for the forthcoming Gymkhana video.
