Meet the estate version of the CLA saloon only with a more dynamic sounding name, Shooting Brake. This is the way now for Mercedes only we have yet to see the same name tag attach itself to the E Class estate.

The CLA lineage is actually based on the A Class platform, with Mercedes having a willingness to reach out to ever more customers (sales) its model range is growing quicker than an American diner menu and its not just content with offering BIK friendly, Co2 emission’s busting engines.
The striking looking and rather ordinary CLA Shooting Brake Mercedes is also joined by the CLA 45 AMG version in a kind of double reveal.
And its the most powerful 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine which takes center stage over the ‘standard’ look CLA Shooting Brake, like a muscle bound moron on a university scholarship for badass muscle bound morons.

The CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake features a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine at its heart and when the performance figures read 360bhp and 450Nm of torque then you can understand why Mercedes want you to know about this powerful one-inch punch.
To shift all that power from a comparatively small space Mercedes have fitted the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission, fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive, and a braking system and chassis that has been purpose-developed, from the tuning set-up right through to the axles.
Mercedes have opted to use a twin-scroll turbocharger to ensure you get a good amount of torque from low revs. If you don’t know what a Twin-scroll is, lets just simplify it, more accessible power from lower down the rev range.

The sweeping roofline of the CLA Shooting Brake looks as though it will impact upon payload practicality lets just say its pretty damn, decent for its size.
The CLA 45 AMG version will be fully loaded with equipment on the inside, expect leather trim, and many other options that you don’t really need but may want to boast about such as contrast stitching in, say, lime green.

The CLA 45 AMG will be officially unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motorshow in March. No pricing has been set, expect it to cost around£45k when its goes on sale in the UK and to get stupidly expensive with Mercedes branded options.
Model details of the standard CLA Shooting brake, which goes on sale in January 2015 are listed below. Pricing will be revealed thereupon, Mercedes like to stretch out the news cycle and many news outlets need something new to write about constantly, so expect the ‘dogs’ to follow the Mercedes scent sooner rather than later.
One thing about the CLA in general that really annoys us is the horrible looking, sticky out Sat/Nav infotainment system, not even Dacia would consider doing such a thing, we thought the Germans had more Teutonic style than that.
