SsangYong Reveals Name For New Crossover But Not Much Else
Auto News
SsangYong has revealed the look and name of its new SUV which will spearhead a move into the Compact SUV market. Formed in 1954 SsangYong is the fourth largest car manufacturer in South Korea but in the UK its still a rather publicity shy brand, despite having a number of products on the market. The company is 70% owned by Indian conglomerate Mahindra & Mahindra. The Tivoli has been in development for the past three years, its internal project name is known as the X100. These latest renderings are not concepts but close as damn near to the finished production look. The Tivoli borrows its title from an Italian town of the same name, situated near Rome, which has a reputation for style and sophistication says SsangYong. SsangYong-Tivoli-Rear-View SsangYong positions itself as South Korea’s answer to Land Rover, but its current product mix in the UK lacks any of the inspiration it seeks to garner from the town of Tivoli. However the SsangYong Tivoli marks the beginning of a new design language for the company and will first launch in its native South Korea by January 2015 before going on sale in the UK and world wide from mid-next year. No other details have been revealed.  SsangYong-Tivoli-Front-View
