Topspeed.com Conceptualise The 2020 Mercedes Pickup Truck
Features

We can say the days of over engineered Mercedes are over, indeed Mercedes used to make a handful of cars now they make cars for sectors that exist, do no exist and are about to exist. When Mercedes revealed plans to build a Pickup truck our eyebrows raised up in surprise and when they confirmed Renault would be joint partners in this pickup venture it was serious face-palm time.

But this is the way now, Mercedes like other premium manufactures are going for the numbers game, produce more cars earn more profits which means a return on investment and a brand new shinny corporate jet. And in many ways the Mercedes Pickup truck represents this lust for making more for the sake of keeping the board members and the markets happy.

The question is does the Pickup market really need a premium brand entering the sector when it is already well served by the likes of Ford, Chevrolet, Toyota and Mitsubishi? As we always say… Hell yeah!

Our best new friends over at Topspeed.com have come up with a fantasy rendering of the proposed Mercedes Pickup that should be ready for market by 2020. Based on factual evidence at hand they used the Mercedes GLE as a base to create an image of how they think the Mercedes Pickup will eventually look.

Topspeed.com go on to speculate that the prime market for the Merc Pickup will also be Latin America, South Africa, Australia, and Europe. So why are Mercedes going for the Pickup market? Its basic supply and demand or should that be “demand?… we shall supply”.

Pickup trucks are very popular in the Americas, drug barons use them to cross the Mexico border into North America, but why do these Pickups always end up in the hands of Reebok and Adidas wearing ISIL jihadists who are supposed to be anti Western? Oh the hypocrisy of religion.

Anyway we’re going in a different direction again, note to self… stick to the subject.
