Audi Preparing Electric SUV To Take On Tesla
Industry News
Audi don’t like it when a new upstart takes all the headlines and Tesla is the new kid on the block that is making the news. So how do you take on Tesla? By beating them at their own game and Audi will attempt do so at the Frankfurt Motorshow in September by previewing an all electric SUV concept. That isn’t exactly taking to game to Tesla because they already do all-electric cars and Tesla will be entering the SUV market with the Model X which could be released later this year. Audi’s all electric SUV will feature what they are calling ‘extreme aerodynamic styling‘ which will distinguish the model from the rest of company’s design language. Word on the street is the styling could be Q5 inspired. Audi will prepare to launch the new model around 2018 and it will have a range of around 310 miles in electric mode. BMW and Porsche are also planning to release similar models. Audi is spending big at the moment, it has earmarked 24 billion euros to develop new lightweight technologies, infotainment systems, powertrains and will be adding a total of 60 products to its current 50 model offering by 2020. Meanwhile Audi will focus on the Q7 e-Tron Plug-in Hybrid which will launch in 2018 and will have an expected range of 300 miles.  Audi-All-Electric-SUV
