Formula One has cyclical periods of just plain crazy rumors about this driver, that driver and whom will be driving where ever this season or the next. Its called the ‘crazy season’ which happens between about now and until the end of the year.
The ‘crazy season’ is fueled by speculative motor racing hacks and quite often the news is made up on the fly. The ‘crazy season’ is now all year round, its non-stop from the start of the season until the end.
The latest rumor going around is that Williams driver, Valtteri Bottas, has reached an agreement of understanding with Ferrari to drive for the Scuderia from 2016 onwards.
According to Italy’s Corriere dello Sport Williams is satisfied with the end of contract terms Ferrari presented to them. Bottas only had an option to re-sign for Williams in 2016.
The Italian newspaper claims that Ferrari paid £16m to release Bottas from any binding agreements with Williams, not bad business for Grove based outfit.
If these reports are correct then it looks likely Kimi Raikkonen has almost certainly been usurped in favor of Bottas. So where does Raikkonen go from here?
He could switch to Williams and rejoin his former Ferrari team mate or Kimi could just as well get fed up with the sport and leave for good, this time permanently.
For Bottas its going to be a tough call, does he have the speed to match Sebastian Vettel? In any case will Ferrari see and use Bottas as a number 2 driver?
They most probably will because this is the Ferrari way and Bottas will have to get used to it.
