Levorg, sounds like the name of a Klingon Commander from a Star Trek movie doesn’t it? But it is Subaru’s replacement for the Legacy and its been given a price and spec confirmation for the UK market. The Levorg Sport Tourer goes on sale in September and is priced form £27k, only one trim level will be available to begin with. The Levorg GT Sports Tourer will come with an onslaught of standard kit with Subaru’s all-wheel-drive system included. Subaru say the Levorg is an upmarket step to the Legacy it replaces with a greater use of high quality materials. Leather-trimmed sports seats with unique to Levorg blue stitching will come as standard. Subaru’s new 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment, connectivity and navigation system also makes it onto the standard list of equipment. Only one engine will be available for UK buyers, a newly-developed 1.6-litre DIT (Direct Injection Turbo) Boxer petrol engine. The latter will be paired with Subaru’s Lineartronic (CVT) transmission. Subaru say the new 1.6-litre DIT power unit offers the same performance as Subaru’s existing 2.5-litre naturally-aspirated Boxer engine, despite being 36% smaller. The all-new four-cylinder turbo engine produces 170 PS and 250 Nm torque and offers greater efficiency than existing Subaru petrol engines. The Levorg is equipped as standard with the new ‘Subaru Rear Vehicle Detection’ system (SRVD), which alerts drivers to vehicles which are crossing behind. A comprehensive safety package, SRVD combines three technologies: Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, which detects vehicles passing behind when reversing out of a parking space. Levorg also features SI Drive (Subaru Intelligent Drive) which allows the driver to chose between two modes, Intelligent mode and Sport mode. The Levorg is also fitted with Active Torque Vectoring (ATV) which effectively brakes the inside wheels under cornering and apportions greater torque to the outside of the car, and reduces understeer and oversteer.
