Jenson Button To Quit F1 For Top Gear
Formula One
Jenson Button is set to quit Formula One after the 2015 season ends and could be heading for a media career with speculation placing him in line to become one of the new presenters of Top Gear. Button is also considering a switch to the World Endurance Championship. If this rumor is true then it would bring to a close a 16 year F1 career. Whenever you read “according to insider sources” it really means journalists and newspapers are making things up in order to fill empty column spaces. But the speculation has been circulating for many months, some of the “sources” the rumors of Button quitting sooner rather than later may be well founded. It is known that the McLaren boss wants rid of Button although he has been blocked from doing so by other board members. Button may well have tired of Ron Dennis’s protracted contract negotiations as much as he dislikes running at the back of the field in a team that is struggling to find performance. Button recently told reporters: “I have made that decision, that’s the important thing. It is always nice to make an announcement when you are at your home grand prix, but I don’t know what’s happening yet. There are a lot of meetings in Japan, Ron Dennis and Eric Boullier will be there. I’m sure there will be a lot of meetings at the headquarters.” The 2009 World Champion also admitted that competing for 15th or 16th position while the McLaren Honda partnership regains a semblance of form is a struggle to keep up the motivation. “The joy of being in the car is only there if you’re fighting at the front, because you feel like you’re achieving something. If you’re fighting near the back, you’re driving an F1 car, but you can easily get joy driving something else.” said Button. No one should feel sorry for Button, the life of any sportsman is short-lived but well rewarded if you reach the very top. In F1 drivers come and go Button is one of the few to have enjoyed a very long career in his sport. Deciding when to let go is the hardest part.  Jenson-Button-F1-Quit
