Aston Martin Developing Brand New Turbo Charged V12
Auto News
Our favourite supercar maker, Aston Martin, is building a brand new V12 powerplant and the beneficiary will be the brand new DB11 which is scheduled to launch later this year. The DB11 will succeed the DB9 and not a moment too soon because although the DB9 is still quite an advanced car in terms of the chassis construction it’s now 13 years old. Aston Martin is also facing competition from McLaren Automotive, both are small independent car makers. But Aston Martin has experienced a steady decline in sales over the past 5 years so the DB11 needs to capture the essence of what Aston Martin is all about while glancing back over it’s shoulders at the competition. Crucial to Aston Martin’s resurrection is the new partnership with Mercedes Benz, the German company are supplying the British company with a V12 engine supply chain full of the latest EU compliant engine components for Aston Martin to pick and choose from. In many ways it’s a similar relationship Aston Martin had when it was under Ford ownership, Aston still use Ford based engines that form the backbone of their current V12 and V8 engines which ironically are made in Germany. So Aston has effectively gone from one German based engine supplier to another. With the new engine supply deal Aston Martin isn’t wasting any time and have released a short teaser video of the new V12. Expect a 5.2-litre V12 twin-turbo monster to emit around 600 – 680 bhp. The automotive industry is now in the turbo-charged era, it’s odd that more power seems to be more efficient and less polluting but that’s how the EU regulates environmental policies for the car industry. Auto makers must follow suit otherwise they would end up facing huge levies and fines. https://youtu.be/slg6L4gm1aQAston-Martin-Vanquish
