Volvo will be releasing a host of new models in between now and 2019, for example they don’t have a compact SUV at the moment. The solution? an Audi Q3 sized rival which is expected to arrive by 2018 and will most likely be called the XC40.
Volvo has ditched the Ford based engines and returned to building its own powerplants which consists of four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engines and petrols. Expect a new generation of 3-cylinder turbo petrol engines to arrive by 2019.
Volvo’s Design Chief has said that each car will have its own design identity and in a recent interview he said “The 90 cluster will look different from the 60 cluster and the 40 cluster. The XC90 isn’t a template to scale down to the XC60 and XC40. People are fed up with indistinguishable cars in a range.”
