Aston Martin To Take On Tesla With Chinese Backing
Uncategorized
Tesla has proven that there is a demand for electric cars. This despite the very fact that fossil fuel powered cars offer a much larger energy content per kilogram of joules then the equivalent energy content of a battery. In other words gasoline powered cars are still way more efficient. However gasoline/petrol fueled cars pollute like hell and the trend is now shifting to improving the environmental air quality which is where electric cars are beginning to find a new momentum. Aston Martin are about the big V8’s and V12’s but as a maker of exclusive luxury supercars it isn’t immune to the forces of change. That’s why Aston Martin has announced a joint partnership with a Chinese based tech group known as LeEco. LeEco operates a cluster of business entities within China, internet TV being one of them. Electric car technology is another business division. With this joint partnership Aston Martin will develop its first fully electric supercar. The Rapide S is expected to the first recipient of this electric powertrain and should be ready for market launch by 2018. The Chinese state is looking to shift consumer buying habits into buying electric cars in order to reduce high levels of smog in its major cities most often caused by gasoline powered cars. China is expected to become the worlds biggest market for the sales of electric cars.  Electric-Aston-Martin-Rapide
