We do know that Subaru will retain the 4-cylinder petrol and diesel boxer engines and that’s a uniquely good thing.
And we also know the interior receives a materials upgrade so it should be more refined than the current generation Impreza.
The 2016 Impreza is built upon Subaru’s all-new Global Platform which means its going to be slightly larger overall than the outgoing model.
The Global Platform will also be used as a basis to create a new generation of SUV’s and estates.
We also know Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive will come as standard, and expect the engine line-up to be more or less as is.
However fuel saving technologies such as cylinder deactivation will be added and the range topping WRX STi is expected to become a hybrid sports saloon.
The WRX STi will retain the use of the 2.0-litre turbo charged engine with the rear wheels being powered by electric motors.
Neither pricing nor UK availability has been announced.
