Drifting An AWD Audi R8 V10 Is Difficult
Video

It can reach 193mph, dash from 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds thanks to 525bhp and 530Nm of torque, it’s name is the Audi R8 V10 and in Quattro mode, thats 4×4, it has more traction than the ordinary driver knows what to do with.

The R8 V10 is power, but with great power comes great responsibility and so it was that a professional driver, somewhere in jerk-water Germany, decided to try and see if he could drift an AWD R8.

To get straight to the point he couldn’t, the very nature of a 4WD system means that the torque is distributed to all four wheels evenly.

A rear wheel drive car obviously has all the engine power sent directly to the rear wheels and that’s why rear wheel drive cars are easier to drift.

Drifting only tends to work with rear-wheel drive cars and for the most part AWD cars are designed for better traction.

Thats one of the reasons why you can’t drift a 4WD car on tarmac or, as the video shows on a super wet skid-pan.
