With the new F1 season two races old and Fernando Alonso opting to skip the Monaco GP in favour of the Indy 500 we thought we’d take a look at one of the new drivers, Williams F1 rookie Lance Stroll.

Stroll, who’s only 18 years old, partners veteran driver Felipe Massa before the young Canadian got his seat in the number 18 FW40 he enjoyed a karting career, a common ‘best practice’ for future budding F1 dreamers. Many of the current crop of F1 stars such as Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen also started out in karts. Stroll is already developing a name for himself in F1 as a persistent crasher, he may have been good at one level of motor racing but to succeed in F1 a driver must take a giant leap and many talented drivers have failed to take that giant leap because they lack the mentality to be consistent. Max Verstappen has the mentality that much is clear but if Stroll is to survive in F1 then not even his father’s billions (which is bank rolling Stroll in F1) is going to be attractive enough to get him out of the mire he is creating for him self.
