The performance division of Volo, Polestar is set to become a sperate brand entity and you will be able to get your hands on the first Polestar model by 2019. Polestar 1 is designed to be a BMW M4rivaling plug-in hybrid, a 2+2 Grand Tourer Coupe that equals job very well done.
Underneath Polestar 1’s part-carbon fiber body rests a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine which drives the front wheels.
The rear wheels are driven by two electric motors that sit on the rear axle and produce a total of 215bhp.
Polestar 1 has a claimed electric range of 93 miles on a single charge, however, it is a temporary solution before Volvo introduce a fully pure electric drivetrain to rival Tesla.
Advanced chassis technology, Continuously Controlled Electronic Suspension (CESi) and torque vectoring will make feature in Polestar 1.
Polstar 1 will be built in China, only 500 models will be made and if you want to buy one you can’t. Volvo will instead adopt a monthly subscription fee on a two or three-year contract.
For that monthly subscription Volvo will include maintenance and insurance. It’s like a Netflix contract, with ultra HD.
Polestar 1 will be the first of many models from Polestar, eventually, the company will make the transition from hybrid to pure electric performance vehicles.
