As part of a drive to parlay more consumer advice we take an unbiased look at the best compact premium sedans out there right now. Except for the BMW 1 Series, we’re being unbiased… honest.. Ahem! so… Which should you consider buying, the BMW 1 Series sedan or the Mercedes A Class sedan? The new BMW 1 Series sedan (saloon in ye old English) is so horrifically styled we simply can not bear to show it. However, because we are fair and balanced journalists we are compelled to be the essence of fairness and balance…ness.

So we have ditched our award-winning biased opinion based approach and have decided to show the horrifically styled BMW 1 Series. Yes, we are showing the BMW 1 Series in silhouette only, a step up from the total visual ban we placed when it first debuted. 

So… the horrifically styled BMW 1 Series sedan vs the Mercedes A Class sedan? which should you choose? It’s a simple and obvious choice. On pure style alone it’s the Mercedes A Class all the time.

Personally, I wouldn’t choose either, the BMW is paper-bag-over-your-head embarrassing to look at and the A Class uses Renault engines. Renault engines mean blown turbos and Mercedes build quality ain’t wat-it-used to be gov’nr.
