Scuderia Ferrari has revealed it’s 2020 F1 campaign challenger in the form of the SF1000. The 2020 season will kick off in Australian, mid-March, and as with all pre-season reveals there is much anticipation for the season ahead. However, this year’s regulations remain unchanged and could see closer competition between the top three teams, expected to be Ferrari, Red Bull, and the dominant Mercedes team
Ferrari’s 1.6 litre V6 hybrid power unit was the most powerful on the grid in 2019. However, the SF90’s aerodynamics created too much drag which meant they had an imbalance between speed and downforce. Too much drag was good for the cornering speed, but a disadvantage on the straights.
The pre-season reveals are a bit of a misnomer because what you see now will not be what you see during pre-season testing. Revealing the race-spec SF1000 now would give away vital development secrets before the first race. Besides, there is a lot of testing and development work to do.
