The Suzuki Jimny is Back, And This Time It’s Commercial
Auto News

Good news, the Suzuki Jimny has made a return to UK shores. And as a result, our usual brow beaten world on our shoulders outlook is temporarily lifted for a much sunnier day. The passenger version of the Jimny was discontinued in the UK due to it not meeting EU Emissions regulations. So Suzuki simply turned it into a light commercial vehicle. Such a classification allows for maximum emissions of 147g/km versus 95g/km for passenger vehicles.

Suzuki has made little or no changes to the engine or underlying mechanicals other than removing the rear passenger bench seats. A safety partition has also been installed, presumably to prevent people from falling about laughing at this side-stepping of regulations.

The light commercial vehicle model features a ladder frame, the three angles, 3-link rigid axle suspension and ALLGRIP PRO, a part-time 4WD system with low range transfer gear.

The Jimny Commercial is still powered by the same 1.5-litre, 100bhp 4-cylinder engine. With the rear seats removed cargo space increases by 33-litres to 863-litres. And you still get carry over essentials such as hill hold assist, descent control and automatic emergency braking.

Apparently, the Suzuki Jimny Light Commercial will still be limited in availability when it goes on sale in the UK… we don’t know when.
