This is The America Only Audi R8 Panther Edition
Auto News

The Audi R8 is becoming not too dissimilar to a Lord of The Rings movie, it is an ending that will never end. Audi decided in 2018 that the R8 would be going out of production by 2020, possibly reborn as a pure electric ultra-car in 2021 or 2022. Less than 40,000 R8’s have been sold since the supercar was first introduced in 2006. It has always been a halo car for Audi, an unmasking of what the company can do when it decides to let its corporate hair down. And as the age of the R8 is nearing its end Audi is busy releasing a number of final special editions. This time it’s America’s turn, the R8 Panther Edition is limited to just 30 units.

Power is supplied by a 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 that releases 532bhp (539PS/397kW) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque. The seven-speed automatic gearbox is routed to send power to the rear wheels and the R8 Panther Edition can hit 0-62 mph in 3.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 201mph. The usual Audi R8 performance although personally, I would prefer AWD the RWD is one for the purists.

In reality, the R8 Panther Edition is a factory spec customisation. It is distinguished by a dark-purple hue crystal effect paint finish, matte black 20-inch alloys which feature stripe accents, blacked-out badging and carbon fibre mirror caps. The engine compartment is trimmed in carbon fibre and a sports exhaust system will guarantee a big-cat roar.

The interior also picks up on the black Panther theme, Alcantara on most surfaces with red contrast stitching, crimson red leather sports seats and carbon fibre trim. Oh and it’s fully loaded with equipment, indeed the only décor missing is a Marvel Black Panther logo. Price? $183,300.
