Ultra Stylish Audi E-Tron GT is Here, Words Do It No Justice
Auto News

The Audi E-Tron GT has finally arrived and on looks alone it is nothing other than jaw-dropping. And it only costs £80,000 which is a bargain for a new generation pure electric 4-door GT. It’s a bargain if you can afford it of course. And as I write this article remotely, situated on a cold windswept hill, residing inside a weather-beaten tent, with poor internet connectivity the Audi E-Tron GT is just what I need to improve my lockdown wellbeing. The e-tron GT quattro and RS e-tron GT are also offered in Carbon Black and Carbon Vorsprung editions, expect to pay £133k for the top spec RS e-tron GT Carbon Vorsprung.

So here are the facts, at launch, the Audi E-Tron GT is available initially in two model trims, the 476PS, 630Nm (464.7 lb-ft) GT Quattro and the 598 PS, 830 Nm (612.2 lb-ft) RS. The latter being a superhot performance variant costing £110,000. The driving range is a claimed 295 miles and 280 miles respectively. The 800-volt 93kWH battery allows for a 0-62mph time of 3.3 seconds. And the Audi E-Tron is fast-charge ready with a 270kW capability.

Both models are powered by two electric motors located at the front and rear axles which provide electric all-wheel drive as standard. Adaptive air suspension, all-wheel steering, and a locking rear differential will be optional or standard depending on the trim model. The interior is equally as well-appointed as the exterior is visually striking. It’s typically Audi, understated-style.

The fully digitally enabled interior will more or less carry over Audi’s current suite of luxurious materials and technology. The driver operates the Audi virtual cockpit plus (12.3 inches) via the multifunction steering wheel and controls the central MMI touch display (10.1 inches) via touch. Behind the control and display functions in the e-tron GT quattro and RS e-tron GT is the state-of-the-art third generation modular infotainment platform (MIB 3).

Audi is going down the sustainability path by offering a leather-free design package. For example, Dinamica which is similar to Alcantara is made from recycled textiles and plastic bottles. Dinamica will be used for the seat upholstery. The Audi E-Tron GT is the company’s answer to the Tesla Model S and while we can not deny the styling, personally speaking, this weather-beaten reporter would still buy the latest version of the Model S.
