Murray Walker had many lives, he was a veteran World War II tank commander, advertising executive and motorsport commentator. He was best known for his high octane and electric delivery of live Formula One coverage for the BBC between 1976 and 1996 and for ITV between 1997 and 2001. However, it was his commentary partnership alongside the erstwhile James Hunt that he was best know for, a commentary partnership that will never be bettered.
Indeed Murray Walker will never be bettered, he was known as the voice of Formula One and always will be. Walker lived to a grand old age, but time and age eventually caught up and gave him the marching orders to leave. Gone but always present, Walker leaves behind a great legacy and an archive of commentary.
