Subaru Solterra Compact SUV EV Teased Ahead of Official Reveal
Auto News

Subaru is counting down the days to their first-ever electric vehicle launch. And here it is, the Subaru Solterra compact SUV which is due to become retail ready in 2022. It will be built on an all-new electric vehicle architecture co-developed with Toyota. Toyota will supply the majority of the electric vehicle architecture while Subaru will supply its AWD technology. Subaru released a teaser shot of what we presume is a production-ready Solterra.

We do know the exterior look will be based on Toyota’s design language for the bZ4X EV concept that was revealed in April. And that concept borrowed styling cues from the current RAV4. Subaru did not reveal any technical details regarding powertrains, specs or price. We can speculate that the Solterra will use current electric car technology.

For example single and dual electric motors with power supplied by Lithium-ion batteries ranging from 77kWh to 100kWh variants. Pricing in the UK should start from around £40,000. We also know that the name Solterra is a portmanteau of the Latin words Sol and Terra meaning Sun and Earth respectively.

The Subaru Solterra will be officially revealed… we don’t know when.
