JerryRigEverything is de-militarising an aging 1995 Humvee. The gas-guzzling Humvee incorporates a 6.2l V8 fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, diesel compression-ignition engine that generates 150hp at 3,000rpm. JerryRigEverything has already removed the Humvee’s engine and in this video he compares the electric motor with the V8.
It’s no contest as the electric motor is compact, the entire unit is no bigger than a medium-sized duffel bag, which is a bizarre comparison. But when you compare it to the V8, it is a night and day difference. And what’s more, the electric motor offers up 300bhp and over 700Nm of torque.
But of course, the battery pack is where the weight penalty stings. But it isn’t as much as you think.
