The Ferrari Testarossa was the Ferrari to own back in the mid 1908s. Over 10,000 Testarossas were built between 1984-1996, including revised versions. All versions of the Testarossa were available with a rear-mounted, five-speed manual transmission. The rear mid-engine design keeps the center of gravity in the middle of the car, which increases stability and improves the car’s cornering ability, and thus results in a standing weight distribution of 40% front: 60% rear.
But it was the side-mounted radiators and grille that gave the Ferarri Testarossa its distinctive appearance. The Ferrari Testarossa was powered by a 4.9L Flat 12, early examples produced over 385bhp. Later revised versions produced 422bhp, which was a lot of power for the day.
The Testarossa’s head-turning looks made it a favorite for power celebrities of the day with Michael Jordan and Mike Tyson among an army of so-called A-list owners.
This particular example is being auctioned by themarket.co.uk by Bonhams, it is currently owned by a private seller who resides in the South of France.
The current owner bought the car in 1996 and covered 52,000 miles over 25 years of ownership. Mechanically the car is in excellent condition. The body is in “outstanding condition” although the 16-inch alloy wheels show a few signs of wear and tear.
The interior is completely original and will require reconditioning. The car comes with a Schedoni bespoke luggage set, designed specifically to fit the Testarossa.
The car is up for auction now with a current bid of 50,000 Euros at the time of publishing. Bonhams expects it to sell for between 106,000 and 125,000 Euros.
