You, me, your friends, and your family, we are all now (at this moment in time) a digital commodity. Consciously, subconsciously we are all being tracked and monitored. Our digital footprint is information and this information is more valuable than rare physical properties such as gold. Your smartphone and or mobile device is a trench of data. Every time you use your smartphone you produce surplus data streams that are analyzed and sold on to advertisers. This is surveillance capitalism.

Harvard professor Shoshana Zuboff wrote a book on this very subject. The book discusses what Zuboff refers to as the new economic order. “The Age of Surveillance Capitalism,” gives an insight into how the big tech companies such as Facebook and Google deal with your data.

The video features Shoshana Zuboff demonstrate how your data will one day become owned and how the car industry is tapping into surveillance capitalism. The irony is, the book is available on Amazon and Google.
