The BMW M8 GTE is homologated specifically for the LM GTE class of motorsport racing. The vehicle is powered by a front-mounted 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo that develops 592bhp (600PS) at an estimated 7,000rpm. It weighs 1,250kg including the driver and can do the 0-60 mph dash in 3.5 seconds. If need be can it can reach a top speed of 180mph.
Needless to say, The BMW M8 GTE has one mission in life… to go endurance racing. Endurance racing also gives BMW an opportunity to market its brand to a wider audience. Albeit the anorak endurance racing community.
However, it costs circa £200K to buy if you want to do a season of endurance racing. One YouTuber found a cheaper way to enter Endurance Racing, in the form of a 1/24 scale model.
