British Grand Prix, Top 5 Controversial Moments
Formula One

In the run-up to the 2022 British Grand Prix, which we will not be covering because were putting our feet up for the weekend, we look back at 5 controversial moments from the recent past. The lead hero image shows Damon Hill vs Michael Schumacher at the 1995 British Grand Prix. Hill qualified on pole and was comfortably leading early on. Schumacher who opted for a one-stop tyre strategy over Hill’s two-stop, assumed the lead of the race with 20 laps to go.

With fresher rubber Hill closed in on Schumacher and set his sights on the victory. However, on lap 46 Hill attempted to pass Schumacher at Stowe corner. Hill’s maneuver didn’t go well, both ended up in the gravel trap and out of the race. Schumacher was the innocent party.

Hill attempted to overtake his rival from too far back and it resulted in a crash just as Schumacher was at the apex of Stowe.

It was a dramatic and controversial end to what should have been a tense and exciting final 20 laps. The 2022 British Grand Prix will take place at the Silverstone Race Circuit between 1-3 July.
