Features

Are you ready for the ultimate Raptor? The new Ford F-150 Raptor R 2023 is a whole new way to enjoy the excellence that is the Raptor range. From the engine to the tires, there is a great deal to look forward to with this beautiful beast of a truck.

All About the New Ford F-150 Raptor R 2023

Production of the Raptor R is underway this fall and so you should be able to purchase your very own by the end of the year. What you can expect from this rugged pickup is a new engine, an updated exhaust system, and a fair amount of height for much better performance.

The new F-150 Raptor R is boasting a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that is also used in the GT 500. Known as the predator engine and puts out a whole lot of power. You will be able to enjoy the 700hp the engine puts out along with 640lb.ft.  Fox live valve shocks are part of the robust offroad suspension system. The exhaust has had a major upgrade with a cast stainless steel manifold. A new oil filter to accompany that and a deeper oil pan. The wheels are standard 17-inch but the tires are an incredible 37-inch tire, which is also your only option for the Raptor R. This gives you a staggering 13.1 inches of ground clearance, making that approach angle very favorable. Towing capacity is fairly decent, with 8,700lb. The payload is 1,400lb. A 400w system for charging and the tailgate has a neat step built into it. Plus a 10-speed automatic transmission. All in all a pretty fun and exciting vehicle to take offroad.

The Competition

In previous years, there was little to no competition for the Raptor models. These days things are a bit different. The competition in this space is high and more electric trucks are making their mark on the offroad scene. Models like the Rivian R1T, RAM TRX, and Hummer ED are all standing alongside the Raptor R. Unfortunately, not many are combustion engine pickups and this trend will continue towards green fuel solutions. Quite heavily in the EV segment.

Driving an Older Raptor?

The older Raptors, particularly in the early days, were epic beasts. As naturally aspirated vehicles they gave a whole lot of punch. And in some ways, they are like interesting collector’s items. Years from now there won’t be anything new like it. They are in all honestly the last of their kind. It is best to keep them protected against mechanical failures. Make sure that they run for many more years to come.

Consider taking out a vehicle service contract. It can be purchased at any point for your vehicle and will come into effect after your factory warranty has come to an end. They are offered by a third-party company and are available in three different tiers which are the powertrain, powertrain plus, and most comprehensive warranties. Many of the vehicle service contracts offered by the providers often have decent roadside assistance services. A comparison site such as Chaiz, an online platform that allows customers to compare products, prices, and features across multiple providers at their own pace, has all you need to know right at your fingertips, plus you can save up to 60% versus call centers and car dealerships.
