Geely Holding Group is gearing up to commence the sales of its inaugural intelligent electric vehicle, which has been collaboratively developed with the domestic tech monolith Baidu Inc. This move is slated for the fourth quarter of this year and aims to solidify Geely’s standing as a prominent player in the arena of intelligent EV manufacturing.

Referred to as the “01,” this vehicle will be introduced to the market under the newly established Ji Yue brand. The foundation of the Ji Yue 01 is built upon the company’s proprietary Sustainable Experience Architecture EV platform. It comes equipped with a suite of Baidu’s artificial intelligence technologies, encompassing facets such as intelligent cabins and autonomous driving, as highlighted by the automaker.

In addition to overseeing sales, marketing, and service aspects, the Ji Yue brand will embark on creating its very own battery charging network within China. This strategic move is aimed at catering to the surging demand for intelligent electric vehicles among consumers, according to the automaker.

The Ji Yue 01 is classified as a five-seat electric crossover and boasts dimensions of 4,853 mm in length, 1,990 mm in width, and 1,611 mm in height, all anchored by a wheelbase measuring 3,000 mm. After Zeekr, Ji Yue becomes Geely’s second entrant into the realm of intelligent electric vehicle brands.

Zeekr, which was revealed in 2021, has already introduced a trio of models: the 001 sedan, the 009 multi-purpose vehicle, and the X crossover. The diversification of its product lineup played a pivotal role in driving a remarkable 140 percent year-on-year surge in Zeekr deliveries, reaching 12,039 units in July alone.

Geely’s disclosures on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong indicate a substantial year-to-date volume increase of 127 percent, totalling 54,672 units.
