Cheap As Chips: Bankrupt Fisker Flogging Ocean SU-EV For $14,000?
Industry News

Bankrupt Fisker has petitioned a bankruptcy judge overseeing its Chapter 11 proceedings to authorize the sale of more than 3,000 Ocean electric SUVs from its inventory at approximately $14,000 per vehicle to a vehicle-leasing company.

Pending judicial approval, Fisker plans to finalize the sale of 3,321 electric vehicles to New York-based American Lease for $46.25 million, according to a court filing on Tuesday.

The EV startup, which recently filed for bankruptcy protection, faced logistical challenges in selling its Ocean electric SUVs and had transitioned to a dealer-partner model earlier this year after depleting significant cash reserves.

Previously priced at around $70,000, Fisker reduced the cost of its cheapest Ocean variant to approximately $25,000 as part of efforts to raise funds to settle debt obligations.

On May 30, two weeks before filing for Chapter 11, Fisker reached an agreement with American Lease to purchase 2,100 Ocean EVs. Subsequently, American Lease expanded its offer to acquire all 3,321 available Ocean SUVs a month later.
