The BMW Neue Klasse Coupe Prototype Testing Begins
Industry News

New spy photos of a camouflaged BMW Neue Klasse coupe prototype were taken at a German airfield, showing off the car’s new design language with a low and wide illuminated twin-kidney grille.

BMW has given sneak peeks of upcoming sedan and crossover models that will run on the all-electric Neue Klasse platform through concept vehicles.

The prototype car is equipped with four wheel hub motors that can be seen through the rims, replacing conventional brake discs.

BMW and key supplier Continental have made a joint investment in the German electric motor startup DeepDrive.

DeepDrive claims that its dual-rotor electric motor can extend an electric vehicle’s range to over 800 km (497 miles) and reduce carbon emissions by 20 percent.

Continental plans to integrate its brake system with DeepDrive’s in-wheel motors to create an innovative drive-brake module.

The Neue Klasse vehicles will use BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive electric technology, which promises up to 25 percent higher efficiency compared to current electric vehicles.

These vehicles will be powered by four “super brains” that manage propulsion, driver assistance systems, infotainment, and other functions.
