Yet, here we are: Dua Lipa is fronting Porsche’s ad campaign for the all-electric Macan, she is one of the world’s most high-profile female music artists at the moment. While Taylor Swift is the biggest-selling female artist of 2024 with her catchy “hey-hey-ohh-haa-yeah-yeah-la-la” melodies, Dua Lipa is currently considered one of the coolest music artists. (I admit, I made that statement up—I’m not sure if it’s true.)
It’s intriguing that Porsche has enlisted such a high-profile star, this move suggests Porsche is targeting an exclusively female audience. However, 47.1% of Dua Lipa’s followers are female and 52.9% are male, so the initial assumption about targeting a female demographic might be off. Clearly, I need to refine my journalism skills. AHEM!
The ad itself is quite creative. It seems the ad creatives used AI prompts for inspiration, transforming what could have been a mundane advertisement into something engaging. Whether this approach will effectively boost sales of the Macan EV remains to be seen, and only sales data will reveal if this strategy has been successful.
