All hail the completely redesigned Audi Q5, which marks a significant update, since… well its been a long time coming to be honest. Anyway, the new Q5 features a revamped exterior, improved interior, and a range of new powertrain options.
Exterior and Interior
The Q5’s exterior showcases a more streamlined design with sculpted lines and sharp angles. The rear features second-generation digital OLED taillights with customizable graphics, while the front boasts Matrix LED headlights with adjustable DRLs.
Inside, the Q5 offers a modern and spacious cabin with a new interior concept. A curved display houses the 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch MMI infotainment display.
The infotainment system runs on Android Automotive OS and includes access to apps like YouTube. Rear passengers enjoy ample legroom and two USB-C ports for charging devices.
Powertrain Options
The Q5 is available with a range of petrol and diesel engines, all paired with a seven-speed S-tronic dual-clutch transmission. In the U.S., the initial lineup includes:
Q5: Powered by a 2.0-litre TFSI four-cylinder producing 268 hp and Quattro all-wheel drive.
SQ5: Equipped with a 3.0-litre TFSI six-cylinder delivering 362 hp and Quattro all-wheel drive.
European models also offer mild-hybrid technology and additional engine options, including a 2.0-liter TDI diesel.
Platform and Chassis
The Q5 is built on Audi’s Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), which contributes to improved comfort and handling. Standard models feature Frequency Selective Dampers, while air suspension with adaptive damper controls is available as an option.
The SQ5 comes with a sportier suspension setup.
Pricing and Availability
Audi has not announced U.S. pricing for the new Q5. However, in Europe, the standard model starts at €52,300 (~$57,800), while the SQ5 is priced from €82,900 (~$91,600).
