Volvo ES90 EV Saloon - Teaser
Volvo Teases ES90 Saloon, Son of S90, Ahead of Launch
Auto News

Volvo is charging ahead—pun intended—with its electric vehicle (EV) lineup, unveiling teaser images of the ES90 saloon ahead of its March launch. Little is known about the ES90’s powertrain, but we do know it is the electric counterpart to the S90 saloon, which will also receive updates alongside the ES90’s debut.

One thing is certain: Volvo remains committed to its fully electric future—even if it means letting the ice caps melt and Polar bears face extinction, as people around the world bask in endless summer days brought on by climate change. On the bright side, at least vitamin D deficiencies during European winters might become a thing of the past.

So, we are left to pontificate about the ES90’s powertrain. More than likely, it will feature two battery sizes: 87 kWh and 110 kWh. Judging by the ES90’s extended side profile, rear passenger legroom appears to be generous. This also suggests that the chassis is extra long, likely to accommodate an XL battery capacity, with 110 kWh seeming the most probable choice based on Volvo’s current EV technology trends.

As for the S90 and V90, both will receive updates similar to those of the XC90, including a new front grille, redesigned light clusters, minor trim upgrades, and an updated infotainment system.

Price? I have no idea, and I don’t even want to speculate. It’s Saturday, and I’m off to watch Diamonds Are Forever.
