The German economy continues to struggle; it is currently experiencing a period of stagnation with a mixed outlook for the near future. A recent rebound in Q1 2025 GDP does little to offset the broader challenges, which include weak global demand, high energy costs, and underlying structural issues.

So, we decided to turn back time to when Germany seemed to be riding an unstoppable wave of economic growth — a seismic surge that appeared unending. But those glory days are now over, largely due to self-inflicted reasons.
