The McLaren F1 has aged incredibly well for a 33-year-old car. Legendary F1 design engineer Gordon Murray clearly knew what he was doing—or at least that’s how it seems. Yet, three decades later, Murray still points out flaws in the F1, much like an artist forever critiquing their own masterpiece. Today, a prime McLaren F1 is worth around $20 million, but Murray’s latest creation can be had for far less.

The Gordon Murray T.50 costs about $3 million and is limited to just 100 units—all of which are already sold out. Its value is almost certain to rise as new owners inevitably look to cash in on one of the purest and most sought-after supercars on the market today.

Chris Harris sits down with legendary designer Gordon Murray to discuss the McLaren F1 and its spiritual successor, the GMA T.50. Few figures have reshaped the supercar world as profoundly as Murray, whose groundbreaking designs will take centre stage at Abu Dhabi Collectors’ Week on December 5, when both cars head to auction.
