Located in Melbourne’s Middle Park, The Promenade, designed by Seidler, is a home that seamlessly blends architecture and sculpture, creating a living space that is both functional and artistic. Inspired by the nearby Bluestone Promenade, the residence uses a palette of rough-cut stone, sand-colored plaster, and light oak to bridge interior design with the coastal landscape, producing a tactile, immersive experience.
The house features a sunken garden, expansive living areas, and a pool, offering a narrative of spatial progression that responds to light and time. A central bronze staircase functions as both a sculptural centrepiece and a connective spine between private bedrooms, gardens, and a top-floor pavilion gallery with rooftop garden views.
Designed to accommodate both family life and large gatherings, The Promenade includes adaptable outdoor spaces, cascading concrete steps for seating, and flowing dining and living zones that blur the line between interior and exterior.
The project reflects the collaborative vision of Luke and Sarah Seidler, achieving a harmonious balance between function, materiality, and emotional resonance.
Ultimately, The Promenade transcends conventional home design, becoming a living artwork that celebrates light, landscape, and the convergence of architecture and sculpture, offering an inspiring example of how design can elevate everyday life.
