No Cure, More Pain To Come Admit Hamilton And Leclerc After Difficult Singapore GP Weekend
Formula One

Ferrari endured a difficult weekend at the Singapore Grand Prix, with both Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton admitting that the team is struggling to compete with Formula 1’s front-runners.

Leclerc finished sixth at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, 46 seconds behind race winner George Russell, marking his fifth consecutive race without a podium finish. The Monegasque driver was frank in his post-race assessment, acknowledging that Ferrari’s pace deficit to Mercedes and Red Bull has grown in recent weeks.

“We are struggling massively with the car,” Leclerc said. “It’s tough. I wish I could say I’m positive for the rest of the season, but there’s nothing in the car that proves we’re going to make a step forward.”

Leclerc explained that while Ferrari made some improvements earlier in the season, rival teams have continued to develop their cars at a faster rate. “Red Bull found two steps in a season, and now Mercedes seems to have done the same. We’re the only ones who haven’t found that solution,” he added.

Teammate Lewis Hamilton faced further frustration after a late pit stop for soft tyres briefly boosted his pace. The seven-time world champion overtook Leclerc and began closing in on Kimi Antonelli for fifth, but brake issues in the final laps forced him to slow down. A post-race penalty for exceeding track limits eventually dropped him to eighth place.

“I feel pain for the whole team — from the garage to marketing — everyone gives absolutely everything,” Hamilton said. “But the car isn’t at the level of those ahead of us. We’re on a knife-edge trying to get as close as we can.”

The result highlights a challenging period for Ferrari, who have fallen behind in the development race as the 2025 season enters its final stretch. With no major upgrades expected, both drivers admitted the team faces an uphill battle to close the gap to the leading contenders.
