WhistlinDiesel, the YouTuber famous for videos of gleeful destruction and for building functionally extravagant, over-the-top modified vehicles — usually monster 4×4 pickups — has now set his sights on the latest generation of humanoid robots.
The Unitree G1 is a fully autonomous robot currently on sale in China. It’s hard to say what the purpose of the G1 really is; as advanced as it appears, it’s still a first-generation experiment in a rapidly evolving field.
Most likely, the Unitree G1 serves as an outlier for data gathering, with subsequent iterations using that data to develop more sophisticated, general-purpose artificial intelligence.
In short, robotics and humanoid movement are being mastered at remarkable speed — but true intelligence and dexterous finesse will take years to perfect.
But enough about this intelligence — this is a post about WhistlinDiesel, and that means it’s time for a hell-yeah, whoop-whoop, dern-tootin’, rubber-neckin’, skedaddle, yee-haw!
