Vision GT Meets Real Life: Xiaomi Flexes EV And Hypercar Ambitions
Auto News

Move over, Ferrari and Porsche—there’s a new kid in the Vision Gran Turismo sandbox, and it’s not from Maranello or Stuttgart. It’s from Xiaomi. Yes, that Xiaomi: the smartphone people who brought you budget handsets and Wi-Fi routers have just unveiled a wild, no-holds-barred VGT concept supercar at MWC 2026 in Barcelona.

The Vision GT is pure over-the-top hypercar theatre: scissor doors, a monstrous carbon-fibre rear wing, T-shaped lights, and enough aggressive ducting to make a fighter jet blush. It looks like it’s ready to blast through a video game rather than your local traffic lights. And, to be clear, it’s still very much a concept—not something you can pre-order anytime soon.

What really makes it interesting is the tech. The Xiaomi Vision GT runs on a 900V silicon carbide platform, which is nuts when you consider most EVs top out at 400V, and even the Porsche Taycan maxes out at 800V. If that works in the real world, it means faster charging, less heat, and insane efficiency.

Power? Brace yourself: Xiaomi is claiming 1,900 hp (1,417 kW). For context, that obliterates the Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo and even the production Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, which already puts out over 1,500 hp. It’s a gaming car come to life—and if Xiaomi can pull it off, it’ll leave some proper hypercars shaking in their carbon-fibre boots.

This isn’t just a tech flex, either. Xiaomi has already delivered around 410,000 EVs in 2025, set a Nürburgring record with the SU7 Ultra, and even outsold the Tesla Model 3 in China.

So, while this Vision GT might be a concept, it’s part of a very serious plan to stake a claim in the EV world—one that could see Xiaomi expanding into Europe by 2027 with an R&D centre in Munich.

In short: Xiaomi is saying, “We make phones, yes—but we also make your dreams of electric madness a bit more… extreme.” And honestly, we’re here for it.
