Max Verstappen is preparing to make his debut in one of motorsport’s toughest endurance events, the 24H Nürburgring. The four-day event begins with qualifying on 14–15 May, followed by the 24-hour race from 16–17 May at the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife.
The four-time Formula 1 world champion, Max Verstappen, will compete in a Mercedes-AMG GT3 as part of Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing, run in cooperation with Winward Racing. His teammates include experienced GT drivers Lucas Auer, Jules Gounon, and Dani Juncadella.
This will be Verstappen’s first 24-hour race. In 2025, he earned his DMSB Permit Nordschleife and later won a Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS) race in a Ferrari 296 GT3, making rapid progression in GT racing.

Preparation for the event has been intense. Verstappen has recently completed testing laps at the Nürburgring Nordschleife and also impressed in GT machinery at Fuji Speedway in wet conditions, where he quickly matched and even surpassed experienced drivers’ lap times.
During April’s qualifying weekend, the team showed strong pace, with their Mercedes-AMG GT3 becoming the first car to break the nine-minute barrier. Verstappen also led the early phase of a supporting race before a technical issue dropped the team back in the order.

Looking ahead, Verstappen has been clear about the team’s goal:
“Success is winning. That’s why we’re here. I know it’s not going to be easy, but that’s the target for everyone.”
“It’s probably going to be the best feeling. You’re by yourself, pushing in the night. The car is normally fastest in the night, so I’m looking forward to it.”
Veteran driver Dani Juncadella, a two-time Nürburgring podium finisher, emphasized the track’s reputation, describing it as unpredictable and intimidating even in ideal conditions.
