Audi has introduced the all-new RS 5 Saloon and Avant, the first plug-in hybrid models in its high-performance RS range, marking a major shift toward electrified performance.
The new RS 5 combines a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine with a 130kW electric motor, producing a total output of 639PS and 825Nm of torque. This allows 0–62mph acceleration in just 3.6 seconds, while electric-only driving range reaches up to 52 miles. The battery can be fully charged in around 2.5 hours using 11kW charging.

Designed to retain the RS identity, both models feature aggressive styling with flared arches, a signature RS honeycomb grille, large air intakes, and oval exhaust outlets. Buyers can choose from three trims: RS 5, Carbon Black, and performance Vorsprung, each adding progressively more carbon fibre detailing, larger wheels up to 21 inches, and more track-focused styling.
Inside, the RS 5 features RS sport seats, premium materials like Dinamica microfibre and leather, and a driver-focused layout. Technology is a key highlight, including a curved OLED MMI display, Audi virtual cockpit, and advanced driving data systems that track performance metrics for road and circuit use.

Under the skin, a new quattro system with rear torque vectoring improves handling by distributing power between wheels in milliseconds. Regenerative braking and hybrid energy recovery systems enhance efficiency while maintaining performance.
UK pricing starts at £89,400 for the Saloon and £91,300 for the Avant, with first deliveries expected in summer. Audi positions the RS 5 as the beginning of a new era where electrification and traditional RS performance are fully integrated.
