After 18 Years of Sacrifice, American Axle Workers Win Historic Pay Deal
Industry News

After a 10-day strike, nearly 1,000 members of UAW Local 2093 at American Axle/Dauch Corporation have reached a tentative agreement that delivers major wage increases and improved benefits.

The proposed contract would raise the top hourly wage to $30 by 2030, representing a 36% increase over four years. Workers who took significant pay cuts during the 2008 financial crisis will receive some of the biggest gains, with long-serving employees seeing an immediate $8-per-hour raise upon ratification.

In addition to higher wages, the agreement includes more paid time off and preserves existing healthcare benefits without additional costs to workers.

Union leaders hailed the deal as a long-awaited victory after nearly two decades of concessions made to keep the Michigan facility operating.

The tentative agreement will now be reviewed by union members before a ratification vote. Support for the strike came from several Michigan political and community leaders, reflecting the dispute’s broader impact on workers and the local economy.
