Mercedes has taken its smallest SUV, fed it a diet of LEDs, artificial intelligence and touchscreens, and called it the all-new GLA.

The styling has been sharpened up with an illuminated grille, a longer wheelbase and enough glowing trim to be spotted from the International Space Station.

Inside, it’s a familiar story: more screens than a Best Buy showroom, a panoramic roof and an AI-powered MBUX assistant that’s apparently clever enough to hold a conversation. We’ll be the judge of that.

At launch, the GLA will be available with three fully electric powertrains, while hybrid petrol versions are set to arrive later. In Germany, prices start at €48,599 for the entry-level GLA 200 electric, climbing to just over €58,000 for the range-topping GLA 350 4MATIC.

In other words, it’s the same recipe as before—just with more tech, more lights and a bigger monthly payment.
