Lando Norris produced a stunning final lap to secure pole position for the Dutch Grand Prix, beating Mercedes pair George Russell and Kimi Antonelli in a dramatic qualifying session at Zandvoort.

With rain threatening to disrupt the closing stages, Norris took the gamble of completing another flying lap as conditions deteriorated. The McLaren driver delivered when it mattered, posting a time of 1:11.163 to edge Russell by around a tenth and claim his place at the front of the grid.

Russell, fresh from winning Saturday’s Sprint, had to settle for second, while team-mate Antonelli completed the top three. Mercedes had looked strong throughout the session, but neither driver could match Norris’s final effort.

Oscar Piastri qualified fourth after appearing to be the fastest driver on track for much of qualifying. The Australian was unable to replicate that pace when the pressure peaked, leaving McLaren with both cars inside the top four.

Ferrari secured fifth and sixth with Lewis Hamilton ahead of Charles Leclerc, while home favourite Max Verstappen could manage only seventh for Red Bull. Liam Lawson was eighth, followed by Audi’s Gabriel Bortoleto and Racing Bulls rookie Arvid Lindblad, who completed the top 10.

Pierre Gasly narrowly missed Q3 by less than a tenth and will start 11th, ahead of Yuki Tsunoda on his return to the grid. Nico Hulkenberg, Franco Colapinto, Esteban Ocon and Alex Albon completed the remaining Q2 qualifiers.

Carlos Sainz endured another frustrating session, qualifying 17th after missing out by just 0.022 seconds to his Williams team-mate. Fernando Alonso, Lance Stroll and Ollie Bearman followed, while Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez occupied the final two places.
