The Italian Job was released in 1969 and had a mixed performance at the box office. Over the years it has gone on to become a classic movie, typical British humour mixed with a sound track from typical American and legendary composer Quincy Jones.
We reckon the Italian Job features the best car chase in movie history. It’s not just the Minis being the true stars of the film but its the cinematography and editing.
Modern day stunt sequences involving car chases do look more spectacular, have the latest camera technology and CGi available, but they still can not match the Italian Job stunt sequences.
Let’s not mention the 2003 US made movie reboot of the film which is similar to watching American Top Gear, or worse the new Top Gear.
Still 1969 marked a high point for 1960’s British culture which was captured in this movie, in many ways it’s like a time capsule.
What followed was the 1970’s this era was the beginning of unusual fashion trends, the Vietnam War, strikes and international market instability. And Star Wars.
It wasn’t until the late 1990’s that saw a period of financial stability but recently the UK voted to leave the EU.
Yes the UK pub drinking population voted to leave the EU so that they could be served drinks by Australians instead EU immigrants. Madness, total madness.
Talk about the self preservation society, it rings true today as the jingoistic song did for the movie.
