Whether you need a ridiculously powered 4×4 is one matter, buying one is another matter as BMW have revealed their options windfall with the second generation X5 M and X6 M and it includes mind numbing performance figures. This time its twin turbo power.

Both models are powered by a debased 4.4-litre M V8 TwinPower Turbo with two TwinScroll turbochargers. What does that mean? More power, 575bhp and 750Nm which translates into a 0-62mph time of 4.2 seconds and a limited top speed of 155mph.

Its going to set you back a hefty amount, the X5 M will cost £90k and the X6 m £93k when these two beasts hit UK showrooms on April 11, 2015.

But at least you do get a healthy bespoke interior and a newly developed eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission now featuring Drivelogic.

We don’t know what Drivelogic is but there must be a satisfied product marketing consultant somewhere who does.

The suspension setup includes self-leveling rear air suspension, double wishbones at the front with electronic dampers. The exterior of these beasts are defined by typical signature BMW M styling with beefy and chunky looking front bumpers, side sills and all round “M’ness”.
