The Not New But Improved And Updated Volvo XC90
Auto News

I don’t know, you go on holiday for a few days, and suddenly, all hell breaks loose. In the automotive world, this usually means yet another “new” car launch that isn’t really new, just a minor update disguised as something groundbreaking. The ‘new’ Volvo XC90 is a perfect example—it’s not a completely new model, but it has seen some improvements. These include enhanced interior sound insulation, a redesigned grille, and better mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain efficiency.

Along with the new grille, the XC90 features a reprofiled bonnet and redesigned LED headlights that reveal the integrated headlight elements. However, if this were truly a new XC90, as Volvo claims in their press release, they would provide solid facts and figures. But they haven’t. So, how much more efficient is the plug-in hybrid? I don’t know, and apparently, Volvo doesn’t either.

We do know that the supposedly ‘new’ XC90 will continue to offer the same premium luxury it’s known for. Personally, I prefer Volvo interiors over those from Mercedes, BMW, or Audi. As a potential new car buyer, I’ve lost interest in owning an Audi, Mercedes, or BMW.

Volvo has become my go-to choice for a premium vehicle because they excel quietly without all the flash. Just one more thing about the XC90, the infotainment system has been updated, now running on Volvo’s EV hardware—though the software itself seems largely unchanged.

Honestly, I’m just filling column space here because there’s little else to say. In conclusion, what’s called “new” isn’t really new, but any minor improvements are better than nothing at all. Prices for the not-new but improved Volvo XC90 start from £63,000 GBP for the mild hybrids and £72,000 GBP for the plugin hybrid variants.
